About

Background:

HandymanMD was founded in 2016 by me, Merlynn Mantik.  Having been in the handyman and small renovation business within my rental properties and personal residence since 2004, I found I really enjoyed the work and challenges so I decided to share my skills and experiences.

I’m an Alberta Red Seal Journeyman Electrician by trade having worked my way through the apprenticeship program. As a journeyman, I gained experience in troubleshooting issues anywhere from motors to lighting to complex control systems. I also gathered experience in construction projects working my way up to foreman position where I managed 35 tradesmen. Never want to do that again!!

Realizing I quite enjoyed and excelled at the design side of the industry, I was hired into a consulting role for an engineering firm where I worked with a design/build team on large industrial projects.

Meanwhile, over the years, I have created a wood workshop where I build and/or repair custom projects from cabinets to doors to rainbows and clouds…. seriously!

These experiences provide me with a unique skill-set to problem solve and repair almost anything, well…. not a broken heart. I love the variety of challenges my clients ask me for help with, from the basic to the complex.

Remember, when you contact HandymanMD, you are talking to the CFO, Chief Fix-it Officer, me. I am the only guy you deal with from first contact to making sure the job is to your satisfaction.

WHY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE HANDYMANMD AS YOUR HANDYMAN?

Have you been wondering if there is a reliable, trustworthy, quality driven handyman that will take care of your home and contents as much as you would? Or if there’s a handyman that is not satisfied with the work until you love it?

I believe in extending or at least getting to the usable life of our ‘things’. I always try to repair it before automatically tossing it out to be replaced by the new ‘thing’. Obviously, there is a time and reason for things to go, not the least of which is that it’s not considered in good taste any longer.
